All of the pieces in The Buckingham Crystal Glass Panel Range are designed specifically for display and presentation. Each piece has a blank panel around one quarter of its circumference onto which text and/or designs can be engraved. This makes a gift personal and all the more memorable. Where we offer engraving on an item we will include the method in the description. This will be either 'Engraved by hand sandblasting' or 'Engraved by tool or laser'. The former method can take several days to complete while the latter can often be delivered more or less by return Glass Engraving Explained We use only the finest traditional sandblasting techniques. This is a skilled procedure needing much practice and experience - it is quite different to simply scratching onto the glass. The result is a high quality permanent engraving cut into the glass, which, unlike most printed designs, will never rub or scratch off. The work begins by making a black and white artwork design which is made painstakingly into a template. The template is then placed carefully into position onto the glass ready for engraving. At this stage a stream of fine sand particles is blown at very high velocity only cutting the areas of glass exposed by the template. Great care has to be taken throughout. The slightest error, particularly in the final stages, can ruin an entire piece. Once complete the process leaves the white areas of the initial design artwork as clear natural glass and the black as a white frosted surface. The end result is a most attractive contrast between the two finishes and the creation of a lasting and absolutely unique piece of engraved artwork. Make Your Crystal Special A number of the pieces in The Buckingham Panel Range are also available in our Buckingham Fully Cut Range but without an engraving panel. This allows you to personalise one or more panelled items in your glassware set for, say, members of the family, while keeping the fully cut pieces for visitors. You can, of course, have anything you like (names, dates, text, images and so on) engraved onto your wine glasses, decanters and glassware (perhaps you have a family Coat of Arms?) There are many possibilities and we will always be pleased to help you. Pricing Explained Our pricing for engraving by hand sandblasting is straightforward. There are no hidden charges and all our prices include VAT. Delivery is added at the checkout according to weight and charged at cost or less.
Gift Boxes If you are purchasing for your own or general use then we will supply items in standard cardboard packaging. If you are buying as a gift we can offer blue presentation boxes with cushioned satin lining. These boxes add a definite touch of luxury and cost between £5.50 and £12.50 according to size. For the larger items (where presentation boxes are not available) such as mixed collections of glasses, decanters and so on we can supply gift (as opposed to presentation boxes) boxes. Both boxes can be seen on the Crystal Glass Gifts section. Metal Engraving Prices For Tankards, Flasks, Plates And Other We can engrave most metal items on the website provided shape and room permit. Some items have their engraving cost included in their description. In all other cases we will confirm cost if you can email or telephone us with the item and text. Generally metal engraving will cost approximately £7.50 (set up) and 0.20p per character. Prices vary slightly from item to item although we will, of course, confirm to you by email or telephone Golf Presents and Gifts Customer Service on +44 (0)1844 355113. Golf Engraving Designs By using our designs you get two important advantages. First, you see a picture of the design as it actually appears on the glass before you commit to order. Normally this won't be possible since you will only see the black and white line drawing and need to picture the final engraving in your mind.
